Pre-Move Queries
How Long Will Packing Take?
Typically, most households can be packed within a day or less.
What Does the Packing Service Include?
Packing services include a team of professional movers who have been approved, scored, and reviewed by the Moving of America Moving staff. They will properly pack your items into boxes and ensure your belongings are securely loaded and padded for safe delivery to your new destination
What If I Haven’t Finished Packing by My Scheduled Moving Day?
If your packing is not finished as your scheduled moving day approaches, then don’t hesitate to contact the project manager assigned to your move. We will promptly send our white glove movers who will assist you with packing all your remaining belongings swiftly, minimizing any delay to your move.
How and When Do I Pay for My Move?
Moving of America accepts Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. Typically, movers require a partial or total payment before your move-in day. At Moving of America, we charge 100% of the total balance prior to the delivery of your items. The costs of packing supplies are non-refundable. I Have a Lot of Stuff. How Much Truck Space Will I Need?
When you speak with one of our professional Moving Advisors, they’ll conduct a thorough inventory of your residence and ask several questions about items such as that pool table and the pile of antiques stacked against the wall in the basement! The space required on the truck will depend on the items you plan to take, and pricing will be calculated accordingly.
How Many People Will Help Me Move?
Crew sizes vary depending on the items listed in your inventory. For example, pianos, fridges, armoires, safes, and other large items may require more muscle, leading to a larger crew.
What Does the Loading and Unloading Services Include?
Loading services involve properly padding furniture and loading the items into the moving truck at the origin location, as well as disassembling basic items (such as beds, dressers, and mirrors, etc.) and wrapping furniture. Unloading services involve removing all items from the truck at your destination and placing them in the appropriate rooms or areas per your instruction, as well as reassembling standard furniture (i.e. beds, dresser mirrors, etc.).
What Size Are Your Trucks?
Our trucks are fully owned and operated exclusively by us. They measure approximately 53 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 9 feet tall. While they can make it down most streets, please inform your Moving Consultant if a truck this size may have difficulty accessing your home. Based on the needs of our customers, we may also utilize a 26’ truck or portable storage container.

Can The Movers Arrange my Furniture according to My Preference in My New Home?
Absolutely yes! Once the transportation is complete, our expert residential movers will coordinate with you to carefully unpack and arrange all your belongings in your new space to your satisfaction.
What is My Protection Coverage?
Protection Coverage covers repair, replacement, or reimbursement for any items damaged while under the care of Moving of America Moving. More information is available in our Protection Policy.
What About Lost or Damaged Goods? Are They Covered Too?
Your household goods are covered for the entire time they are under the care of Moving of America’s professional movers. Choose from two coverage levels to find the option that best suits your budget and coverage requirements.
Scheduling Queries
How Far in Advance Do I Need to Schedule My Move?
Moving Of America strives to be as accommodating as possible with timing. Short notice moves are certainly possible, but can’t be guaranteed. We suggest you book your moves as early as possible, especially if you’re moving in the summer—the busiest time of year for relocation. We recommend scheduling your move seven or more days in advance to ensure the best available service.
What If My Move Dates are Specific?
When you decide on a move date, Moving of America Moving guarantees to pick up on that day. If you require a guaranteed delivery date, you need to inform your Moving Advisor. Depending on the size of the shipment, there may be an additional charge for a guaranteed delivery date. We guarantee delivery anywhere in the contiguous US within fifteen business days.
Can I Schedule A Move on a Sunday?
Yes. We offer professional moving services seven days a week, excluding major holidays.
My Move Date Changed! What Do I Do?
Don’t panic! If your moving date changes, simply contact your dedicated Moving Advisor. They’ll handle scheduling your new date. Please review our Rescheduling and Cancellation Policies for more details.
When Is the Best Time to Move?
While our movers are up to the task any time you hire us, the ideal period for moving is usually during the months when the weather is mild, i.e., during the Spring and Fall seasons.
Is It Possible to Move During Uncertain Weather?
It is possible to carry out moves in any weather. However, unless the move is necessitated by an emergency, it is not recommended by us to move during stormy or rainy weather. Our first priority is to keep our crew and your belongings safe and secure. If there is any risk, we will promptly inform you of any change in plans.
Miscellaneous Queries
What Types of Materials Are Used for Packing?
Our crews use high-quality industry-standard packing materials. To protect and cushion a customer’s items, our loading service will ensure that items are wrapped with professionally woven moving blankets. We do not use paper pads, which often tear or rip during transport.
What Happens If I Use More or Less Space Than Estimated?
Our inventory process is designed to accurately determine your space needs before the move. If the inventory you provide is accurate, there won’t be any additional charges for extra space. However, if there are more items than initially listed, resulting in the use of additional space, your moving cost may be adjusted accordingly. This adjustment would be based on the original per-foot rate to account for the extra footage used. To prevent any surprises, please ensure your inventory is as accurate as possible during the booking process. In the event that you decide to leave items behind, you have the flexibility to adjust your inventory up to 5 days prior to your move to guarantee accuracy. Following any updates, your dedicated moving advisor will provide an updated price based on your updated inventory. If you end up using less space than initially estimated and do not notify us beforehand, there will be no changes to your costs on moving day.
What Causes My Estimated Costs to Change?
Provided we have an accurate inventory and you do not make any changes to the move dates, your estimated costs should not change. In the event of unforeseen “Additional Services” (such as multiple flights of stairs or a “long carry” when the truck cannot get close to your home), these charges would be added to your total move price. The aim of our phone inventory process is to identify and account for any potential Additional Services, thereby ensuring they are included in your total upfront price. This way, there won’t be any surprises. This is all outlined in your Order for Service Agreement.
